Did We Just Detect Dyson Spheres? Featuring Dr. Gabriella Contardo
A new paper by Gabriella Contardo and David W. Hogg, reveals a large-scale search combining observations from ESA Gaia DR3, 2MASS, and NASA WISE, leading to the identification of 53 unique objects with significant mid-infrared excesses, potentially indicative of Dyson Spheres or Alien megastructures.
‘Dyson spheres’ were theorized as a way to detect alien life. Scientists say they’ve found potential evidence

I wonder if a star doing a tight slingshot around Sagittarius A would gain enough velocity to escape the galaxy. More over, would its planets get ejected separately and reach escape velocity? Any experts in orbital dynamics here know? lol

Looking for Dyson Spheres is as silly as a 19th centruy astronomer looking for giant alien steam engines or a Greek astronomer searching the sky for world-spanning masses of lit torches. We are misguidedly searching for big versions of "us". We have no clue how superior intelligences will obtain energy or even if they need what we call energy at all. Maybe seek signs of utilization of vacuum energy. Or gravitational lensing with no obvious lensing mass. Or just something indicating huge scale. Spectra may be the answer but not necessarily infrared. Just unnatural spectra discovered by vast surveys.

That's what's great about it, or the universe. There's a lot of possibilities for theoretical existence like location, size, shape, or even if we are able to distinguish it as technology, as we see technology now. It just as might be so advanced, that it doesn't look like or emit anything close to what we'd call technology. Alien design is something truly unfathomable to us. There might be something out there, or might have been, or will be - but we can't assume that we'd even recognize it.

Interesting points and timelines laid out but a very narrow minded view on topics that are expansive and open minded. To be so black and white about science and spirituality you are narrowing down these innovators' work in your essential descriptions. As you say they all crossed over science maths and theosophy and philosophy because they are all intertwined but at the very least, considering things from all viewpoints is what gives birth to new discoveries. Poor G Bruno from your condensing explanation of him purely because your beliefs don't align..

JMG is both the best and worst part of Event Horizon. Dude has such a fragile ego, and projects it onto the excellent staff making this podcast great, that both he, and his staff by necessity are thin skinned and super reactionary when it comes to the mildest of criticism. I like JMG's voice and enthusiasm, but not the stance to insult and degrade the audience Especially when it comes to the special treatment of the charlatan Avi Loeb.

"making it a ightweight structure makes it more reliable" ..does it..or does it make the profit nore reliable? i mean theres longterm business reliability and then theres i only have one life reliability. the dead guys would say its not reliable but the investors would say it is. didnt we learn from the submarine. seems we may need to check our solar system to see how long the resources can last us, and where we can get to using them. are we stuck or can we move outward? has anyone calculated? im so deeply saddened to see us heading into our future in space space as ferengi rather than humans.

if you actually think about it for a few seconds, you'll realize that the dyson sphere fictional scenario is really more of a 1800s human fiction. sucking every drop of energy from a star by building a shell much bigger than the star itself, to be able to do that energy extraction. it's not serious physics or economics or anything other than a childish idea with a simple minded purpose.
